Does it hurt? As acupuncture needles are very fine, not much thicker than the width of a hair, and inserted very shallowly into the skin, pain is not experienced in the manner we would normally anticipate. Instead a dull sensation or slight charge is felt for a couple of seconds at the point of insertion and then a sense of relaxation and release is experienced.
How will I feel after a course of acupuncture? Acupuncture helps to rebalance your energy so that you feel both revitalised and a sense of relaxation.. Most people feel significant relief from symptoms, as well as improved energy, better focus and mood. Improvement in daily rhythms, such as sleep and digestion are also experienced.
How many sessions will I need? To achieve the best results, weekly treatments are recommended initially to build a good foundation of energy. After approx 4-6 sessions, most people feel significant improvement in their condition and it is appropriate for treatments to then be spaced out to fortnightly and then monthly. When the initial course of treatment is complete, it is recommended to come for “top-up” treatments 4-5 times/year, at the change of seasons. This keeps your energy balanced and gives your body good defences against seasonal illnesses such as viruses, colds, flus etc.
How will I feel after a session? Most people feel relaxed after a treatment and, as the energy work continues to integrate for some time afterwards, it is best to plan a quiet night, if possible.
How can I support my own healing process? All healing journeys are collaborative. More can be gained from treatment when certain lifestyle changes are made to support your body to make a positive transition towards great health. Some likely recommendations will be taking regular exercise, getting 7-8 hours sleep every night, drinking at least 2 litres of water daily, eating nutritious food and taking time out of every day to commune with your soul. This could be a walk in nature, meditation, yoga, or just tuning-in to the quiet voice within to listen to what it needs to feel honoured and nurtured.
